What would you do if your toilet is badly clogged? Use a plunger because that’s the best way to unclog your toilets. But, what if you don’t have a plunger or the one that you have is broken? Don’t panic in such a situation. We have listed a few convenient and inexpensive hacks to unclog the toilet without a plunger.

  • Dish Washing Soap

Dishwashing soap can break and dissolve fats and grease in toilet waste thus, cutting down the clogs. Put a cup of liquid dishwashing soap or half a bar of dishwashing soap into the toilet bowl. Add a gallon of hot water to the bowl to activate the soap. Let this mixture sit for 10-15 minutes and flush the toilet. If your toilet is not too clogged, this method will work well.

  • Household Bleach

Just like the soap, household bleach also helps in breaking down the waste. The procedure is quite similar to the one mentioned above. Simply replace the liquid or solid dishwashing soap with 2-3 cups of household bleach. After a minute or two, pour a cup of powdered soap. Wait for 10-15 minutes, and flush the toilet. This method is more effective for a highly clogged toilet bowl.

  • Hot Water

Hot water can dissolve and loosen most clogs and clear them. Pour a bucket of hot water directly into the toilet bowl. Wait for 5-10 minutes, and you’ll see water flowing out of your toilet. If you notice hot water still standing in the bowl, flush the toilet once. Remember that this method is ideal for small to medium clogs.

  • Baking Soda + Vinegar

Pour a cup of baking soda into the toilet bowl. Next, pour a cup of white vinegar over baking soda and allow the chemicals to react. After about 10 minutes, pour 6-8 cups of hot water. Flush after 5 minutes, and you’ll see even the nastiest of clogs clearing up. The chemicals successfully cut down the clogs.

  • Wire Coat Hanger

Cut a plastic coated wire hanger with wire cutters and straighten it as much as possible. Coat one of its end with a rag cloth. Put on rubber gloves so that your hands don’t get dirty in this messy method. Now, stick the covered end of the hanger directly into the toilet bowl and move the hanger in different places. Poke, twist, and push the hanger in different places and direction to break down the clogs. Now remove the hanger and flush your toilet. With this method, you can clear even the most stubborn toilet clogs.

With these tips, it is easy to unclog the toilet without a plunger.
