What do you if you cannot afford the services of a reputed plumbing company in Edmonton to unclog your toilet? You have guests coming over in no time and you discover that your toilet requires being unclogged. You are left squandering for options. Why? It is because you are not aware of DIY plumbing repair techniques. In such situations, instead of panicking, you can use any of the following methods to unclog your toilet.
I. Shampoo + Soap water = Free flowing water
Use this tried and tested method to unclog your toilet water by following these steps:
Add sufficient amounts of shampoo and hot water
Return to check development and repeat process
Return after sometime and check if the water levels have lowered. If the water level has lowered in comparison to before then the unclogging process has started to work. Repeat this process till the waterstarts flowing freely and drains out completely. Flush again to see if the clogging persists.
Ensure to use a large heavy-duty rubber plunger. The plunger should either be a ball- shaped type or one with a fold out rubber flange on the bottom which forms a seal. Refrain from using the small cheap suction- cup type of plunger.
If the plunger is unable to make a tight seal, you can try wrapping an old rag around the end of the plunger to prevent any leakage.
Run the plunger under hot water before using it. This will soften the plunger and help create a seal.
Insert the plunger into the bowl
Ensure that the plunger covers the hole and is entirely submerged in water. It is important that you are pushing and pulling with water and not air. Pump the plunger over the hole. Push down, then pull up sharply to disturb the clog and loosen it. Continue pushing and pulling until the water begins to drain. Do so patiently for the next 15-20 minutes. Once you can see all the water drained out, fill the bowl with water remaining after a regular flush. Flush again and check if the water flows freely without clogging.
